Joyce Mission

Joyce Mission

“Joyce Mission” began with Joyce Abi Dib offering transportation to people she encountered on the streets, taking them to their homes or workplaces, especially during her own commutes. Later, she traveled to Upper Egypt on a mission with the Order of Saint Lazarus sisters to assist the poor. In Cairo, she helped people with leprosy alongside friends. Upon returning to her hometown of Zgharta, Joyce met a family of four living in severe poverty, which profoundly impacted her. She took comprehensive care of them, addressing their social, economic, and spiritual needs. She would take them out for meals, help them shop for clothes, and more, enriching their lives through her generosity. This experience motivated Joyce to help all underprivileged individuals. She started bringing food from home and encouraged friends and family to donate food for beggars in Zgharta-Al Zawiya. Members of the Renewal in the Holy Spirit Association in Zgharta-Al Zawiya volunteered to help Joyce distribute food rations to those in need. They also collected donations in front of supermarkets and food stores, especially during Christmas and Lent. This initiative was groundbreaking for the young people in the region, who served with confidence and without hesitation. Joyce’s mission continues even after her passing, with her family, the Renewal in the Holy Spirit, and UCO Zgharta. All of this started because Joyce experienced God’s love in her life and reciprocated by serving Him joyfully.

Joyce valiantly battled Scleroderma for eight years, passed away in 2014. Her struggle with this chronic disease began in 2006. Scleroderma is a rare autoimmune disorder characterized by hardening and tightening of the skin and connective tissues, often leading to significant health challenges. Joyce’s perseverance and strength throughout her illness remain an inspiration to many.
